Flea and tick prevention and treatment is vital. Check your pet regularly, especially after a walk outdoors by inspecting your pet’s fur and skin closely. An ounce of prevention is definitely worth a pound of cure, especially when it comes to safe, non-toxic tick and flea prevention.
Inspect your pet regularly for ticks and fleas, especially after being outside under a bright light or sunlight using a magnification device and a flea comb.
Check pets regularly for fleas and "flea dirt," the feces of adult fleas, with a flea comb. Flea dirt looks like tiny dark specks and that will turn red if you wet them and rub them a little.
Groom your pet often with a flea comb and inspect the debris for fleas and flea debris.
If a tick is found spray it with BarkLogic Tick & Flea Prevention and Treatment Spray, and then simply remove the entire tick.
The Proper Way To Remove A Tick:
Ticks literally bury their heads into the skin to suck fluids. Do not try to squeeze them. Do not heat them with matches, pour alcohol on them, or slather them with petroleum jelly. Instead, for tick removal, slip a pair of tweezers or tick puller as close to the skin as possible, and gently ease the tick out. Grab by the head, where the tick enters the skin, not by the body. Pull gently and do not twist.
Do not squish a tick to death with your fingers. Contagious tick-borne diseases are transmitted this way. Instead, drop the tick into a container with some BarkLogic Tick & Flea Prevention and Treatment Spray and seal the container.
Wash the bite area and your hands thoroughly with soap and water and apply an antiseptic to the bite site.
If you or your pet has an unexplained illness with fever, contact a physician. Be sure to tell the physician if you have been outdoors in areas where ticks were present or traveled to areas where tick borne diseases are common.
Clean, mop and vacuum your home often to get rid of fleas, their larvae, and their food sources. Change the vacuum bag immediately after by discarding in a sealed plastic bag.

What To Do If You Discover a Flea Infestation:
Speed counts. Act as soon as you notice an active flea infestation because fleas multiply very fast. A single female flea can produce about 600 offspring a month. (The life cycle of a flea can speed up due to variables in temperature and humidity, which may increase flea maturation).
Thoroughly vacuum carpets and all areas where your pet has been including pillows and cushions from furniture. Vacuum underneath all cushions and underneath all furniture as well.
Wash your pet with BarkLogic Tick and Flea Pet Wash.
Comb out your pet using a metal flea comb with teeth spaced very close together. This can be done prior to washing, during washing, after conditioning, and/or after using BarkLogic Tick & Flea Prevention and Treatment Spray on your pet. Follow with BarkLogic Silky Coat Conditioner.
Spray your pet with an enzyme flea treatment spray like BarkLogic Tick & Flea Prevention and Treatment Spray frequently to safely eliminate and repel fleas.

Wash and launder all bedding on high heat that fleas and their larvae may have come into contact with-both pet beds and people beds.

Inspect your pet daily and treat daily until the infestation is gone.
Treat your pets living environment daily until the infestation is gone.
Getting rid of a flea infestation requires ongoing treatment, persistence and patience until fully eradicated.
Try not to use pesticide based flea treatments on your pet or in your home as they will leave a toxic residue that may be harmful to your pet, people, and the earth. Fleas have also built up a resistance to certain readily available pesticides that are no longer as effective as they once were.
